In stock form, the 3.7L engine outputs a very healthy 305 HP and 280 FT-LBs of torque. This makes the new entry level Stang a big contender on the streets and at the track. But if you want the extra edge, you'll need some bolt-on mods to up the anty. Intakes and exhaust systems offer great bang for the buck, but if you want to eek out every bit out power, you should consider adding a throttle body spacer.
Throttle body spacers (TBS) allow the air intake velocity to speed up right as it's sucked into the intake manifold and turned into a beautiful, combustible mixture of air and fuel. The higher air velocity allows more air into the combustion chamber, resulting in a denser air charge and a bigger boom! The final product is improved throttle response, more power and better overall fuel efficiency.
If you're behind the wheel of a new Mustang with the 3.7L engine, then you might like to know that Jet Performance has just updated their signature line of Power Flow throttle body spacers throttle body spacers to fit the new 2011-2012 Stangs. It's a hot Mustang accessory that is relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Please note that it is not guaranteed to fit with all aftermarket cold air intakes. It was designed to work with the factory intake, and may or may not work with an aftermarket CAI. You can pick up the Jet 62166 today at AutoAnything.
