The announcement that the Number 1 Automaker plans to add more vehicles to the 2009 Toyota pedal recall has, once again, topped the headlines. About a year to the date after the initial brake pad scrutiny and recall, the Japanese manufacturer voluntarily adds more models to the recall, including the 4Runner, RAV4 and select Lexus models. They plan to investigate the potential for brake pedal and floor mat hazards, and will implement the remedies for no charge to the vehicle owners.
The vehicles from the 2010 Toyota Recall were:
• 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon
• 2009-2010 Toyota Corolla
• 2007-2010 Toyota Camry
• 2010 Toyota Highlander
• 2009-2010 Toyota Matrix
• 2009-2010 Toyota RAV4
• 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra
• 2008-2010 Toyota Sequoia
The vehicles added to the recall are:
• 2003-2009 4Runner
• 2008-2011 Lexus LX 570
• 2006-2010 RAV4
And, in light of the severity of the Toyota recalls, other big name auto manufacturers are doing their part to make the road a safer place. Chevy – in an outrageous ploy to decrease donut marks in front lawns, large Exxon credit card debt and rubber-necking – is recalling the 2011 Camaro Coupe for excessive bitchin'-ness.
Anonymous auto insiders have hailed the coupe as "the most jaw-dropping P**** Wagon in recent years." And since its arrival on city streets, there have been several groups urging Chevy to redesign the bitchin' whip. The KORTA (Keep Our Roads Tame Association) has led the organized charge on this issue, believing that Chevy has taken the design too far. KORTA issued a report stating, "Its [the Chevy Camaro's] long hood, glossy Inferno Orange paint option, performance-tuned suspension and V8 engine are giving drivers the impression they can make their own rules of the road—and that's just not the case. Drivers are becoming obsessive about their car's capabilities. They're destroying lawns by performing endless donuts in residential neighbourhoods, while others face serious debt by maxing out their Exxon credit cards due to constant lead-footing."
Suspect sources say Chevy will soon respond with this announcement: "In an effort to keep our loyal Chevy owners safe, we are issuing a recall for the 2011 Chevy Camaro Coupe. The sporty ride has been deemed too bitchin' and we plan on remedying the situation to provide a safer driving experience for all."
Where Chevy is headed with the Coupe's design, we don't know. But, they've got a bitchin' Camaro and an innovative design team to match.
